Christoph Lorenz releases debut crime novel set in Marl Chemical Park

Christoph Lorenz, a 53-year-old employee at the Marl Chemical Park, has published his debut crime novel titled ‘Ausgelaugt’. The 614-page book features a murder series set within a fictionalized chemical company, utilizing Lorenz's professional experiences to ground the setting.

The plot follows Chief Inspector Martin Weber and his team from Recklinghausen as they investigate the deaths of a young woman and a subsequent employee. The story involves a perpetrator who uses lye to commit the crimes. While the setting is based on the Marl Chemical Park, the characters, crimes, and specific company are works of fiction.

Published via self-publishing, the novel is available for 15 euros and is exclusively sold at the WYSTUP bookstore in Hüls. Lorenz, who previously wrote poetry and short stories, is planning further crime novels set in the Marl and Recklinghausen areas.
