Christophe Clement Turf Stakes renamed to honor Hall of Fame trainer
The Grade 1 Christophe Clement Turf Stakes at Saratoga has been renamed to honor the late trainer Christophe Clement, who was recently inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. Clement was highly regarded for his success with turf horses, including 11 Breeders’ Cup turf placings or wins.
Trainer Miguel Clement discussed his father’s posthumous induction, noting that enshrinement was the ultimate honor in the sport. He also highlighted the success of the turf star Deterministic, who recently secured his seventh consecutive graded stakes victory in the GI Fourstardave Stakes. Miguel Clement described the horse as a professional and top-class athlete with a strong winning relationship with jockey Kendrick Carmouche.
