Christophe Clement Turf Stakes set for August 15 at Saratoga

The 2026 Christophe Clement Turf Stakes is scheduled for August 15 at the Saratoga Race Course. The Grade 1 event features a $750,000 purse and serves as an automatic qualifier for the 2026 Breeders’ Cup Turf at Keeneland Race Course.

Formerly known as the Sword Dancer Stakes, the race was renamed to honor Hall of Fame trainer Christophe Clement following his passing in 2025. The field consists of seven starters, including several European-bred horses. Notable entries include Minaret Station, Ancient Egypt, and Tawny Port, which is trained by Clement’s son, Miguel Clement. The race will be contested at a distance of 1.5 miles on the turf.
