Christophe Kabongo scores long-range goal in Plzeň victory
In the 11th round of the Czech First League, Viktoria Plzeň secured a 3-2 victory against FK Jablonec. A standout moment of the match occurred in the 25th minute when Christophe Kabongo scored a long-range goal from near the center circle.
Kabongo noted that Plzeň players had observed Jablonec goalkeeper Jan Hanuš playing high up the pitch during preparation. Exploiting this positioning, Kabongo lobbed the keeper after a defensive clearance. The striker compared the strike to Patrik Schick’s famous goal against Scotland, though he joked his left foot is not quite as skilled.
Jablonec coach Luboš Kozel attributed the goal to a combination of a defensive error and the goalkeeper's positioning. With five goals this season, Kabongo remains close to the league's top scorers.
