Christopher Abbott cast as Professor X in Marvel's X-Men reboot

Marvel Studios has confirmed Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier, also known as Professor X, for the upcoming X-Men reboot. The announcement was made during the Marvel Studios D23 presentation on August 14.

Abbott’s casting follows weeks of speculation that had previously linked other actors, such as Bill Skarsgard and Tom Pelphrey, to the role. Abbott is recognized for his work in independent films like ‘Poor Things’ and ‘Possessor’, as well as television series such as ‘Girls’ and ‘Catch-22’.

Notably, Abbott and Adam Driver, who has been cast as the film’s first X-Men villain, both gained early career recognition for their roles in the HBO series ‘Girls’. In that series, Driver played Adam Sackler and Abbott played Charlie Dattolo.
