Christopher Bell addresses power steering failure and Kyle Larson's comments

NASCAR driver Christopher Bell is recovering from physical fatigue following a power steering failure during a race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The failure occurred during the second stage of the event, causing a progressive loss of steering assistance that forced Bell to wrestle his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry for over 100 laps. Bell reported experiencing significant hand and wrist pain, noting that he had to periodically release the wheel to rest.

The incident has sparked a debate between drivers, after Kyle Larson questioned Bell's description of the mechanical issue. Larson suggested that it would be impossible to maintain control of a Cup car with zero power assistance, implying that some level of assist must have remained. Bell clarified that the failure was not an instantaneous loss but a gradual decline, stating the assistance dropped from approximately 50% to much lower levels before he could no longer effectively turn the vehicle.
