Christopher Judge criticizes video game adaptations
Christopher Judge, the voice actor for Kratos in the ‘God of War’ series, has criticized Hollywood for a recurring pattern in video game adaptations: failing to hire the original creators and cast.
Speaking at a Fan Expo panel, Judge expressed frustration that production companies often treat successful intellectual properties as mere ideas while ignoring the talent that spent years building those worlds. He specifically highlighted the upcoming Amazon ‘God of War’ series, questioning why none of the original game writers were hired despite their two decades of experience with the franchise.
Judge also referenced HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ adaptation. While praising the final product and actor Pedro Pascal, he noted that the original game cast provided an ‘unreal’ performance during a stage reading and questioned why they were not utilized for a series that recreates many scenes shot-for-shot from the game.
