Christopher McDonald discusses past engagement to Geena Davis

Actor Christopher McDonald recently shared details regarding his past relationship with Geena Davis during a career retrospective with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. McDonald revealed that he and Davis were engaged to be married for approximately five weeks in the early 1980s.

The engagement ended when Davis fell in love with Jeff Goldblum while filming the 1985 comedy ‘Transylvania 6-5000’ in Europe. McDonald noted that he was ‘broken’ and ‘devastated’ by the split, especially as he was performing in ‘Hamlet’ at the time and had planned to join her shortly after finishing his role.

McDonald stated he does not hold a grudge against Goldblum, noting that ‘things sometimes happen’ on film sets. He also mentioned that actor Ed Begley Jr. was the individual who informed him that the engagement was over. Despite the personal history, McDonald later worked with Davis in the 1991 film ‘Thelma & Louise’.
