Christopher Meloni to return for Law & Order: SVU 600th episode

Christopher Meloni will return to Law & Order: SVU in Season 28 to appear in the series' milestone 600th episode. Meloni, who portrays Detective Elliot Stabler, will reunite with Mariska Hargitay’s character, Captain Olivia Benson.

Showrunner Michele Fazekas, who previously wrote for the series during seasons 3 through 7, noted that bringing Meloni back was a priority that depended on his availability. Meloni is currently starring in the drama The Land. While specific plot details for the 600th episode remain limited, Fazekas indicated the episode would not revolve around an old case.

Season 28 is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, October 8, on NBC. The upcoming season will also explore Benson’s personal disillusionment with her work, featuring new character J. Smith-Cameron as jury consultant Gwen Sharpe.
