Christopher Newport wins women's soccer opener against Methodist

Christopher Newport University (CNU) opened its women's soccer season with a 1–0 victory over Methodist University. The match, held at Captains Field in Newport News, Virginia, saw the No. 25 ranked Captains secure the win via a 73rd-minute goal by Catie Borsuk following a corner kick.

Methodist freshman goalkeeper Kiera Ferguson recorded 10 saves in her collegiate debut, helping the Monarchs remain scoreless through much of the match despite being outshot 29–2. Methodist's offensive efforts were limited to two shots, both recorded by rookies, as CNU controlled the tempo throughout the contest.
