Christopher Nkunku expresses confusion over AC Milan departure

French international Christopher Nkunku has expressed confusion regarding his sudden departure from AC Milan. After being excluded from manager Ruben Amorim’s technical plans, Nkunku has returned to RB Leipzig on a loan deal that includes a purchase option.

Speaking at a press conference, Nkunku stated that while he respects the club's decision, he does not fully understand the reasoning behind it. He noted that the move was unexpected and occurred despite him having a regular season without injury concerns. He added, “To respect a decision, we do not always have to understand. It happened suddenly, I myself didn’t expect it.”

The transfer marks a return to a familiar environment for the attacker, who previously played for Leipzig between 2019 and 2023. The loan agreement allows for a potential permanent move following discussions between Milan and Leipzig at the end of the season.
