Christopher Nolan Announces Minimum Three-Year Gap Before Next Film After 'The Odyssey

Director Christopher Nolan told Today that it will be at least three years before he begins work on another movie. He said the production of his latest film, ‘The Odyssey’, pushed him and the entire crew to the limits of their stamina, noting, “I definitely hit the limits of my own stamina and everybody’s stamina.”

The epic, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus and an ensemble cast, was filmed entirely on IMAX film cameras – the first feature to do so – and opened to global box‑office earnings of more than $200 million. Nolan’s comment continues a pattern of roughly three‑year intervals between his recent releases, from Interstellar through Oppenheimer to The Odyssey.

He emphasized that the scale of the project required a lengthy recovery period before tackling his next venture.
