Christopher Nolan dons Ajrak tie at New York premiere of “The Odyssey”
Director Christopher Nolan wore a custom-made Ajrak silk tie at the New York premiere of the film *The Odyssey* on July 14, 2026. The tie, created by Indian label Aahaan Tandon, featured the traditional block‑printed geometric patterns of the Ajrak textile and complemented Nolan’s classic black suit.
Ajrak originates from the Sindh province of Pakistan and the Kutch region of Gujarat, India, and is known for its natural indigo and crimson dyes. By showcasing the heritage fabric on an international red carpet, the accessory highlighted artisanal craftsmanship and the growing trend of using traditional South Asian textiles in contemporary fashion.
The event took place at the AMC Lincoln Square 13 theater in Manhattan, which was decorated with a replica of a Trojan horse and a Greek‑style set. Other cast members attended, but Nolan’s tie drew particular attention for its cultural significance.
