Christopher Nolan avoids smartphones, relies on flip phone
Award‑winning director Christopher Nolan disclosed that he does not own a smartphone and does not use email, preferring instead a simple flip phone. He explained on Jimmy Fallon’s "Tonight Show" that a smartphone would make him "horribly addicted" and would rob him of valuable quiet moments for thinking about his next film.
Nolan said the modest device is only used while traveling, allowing him to stay focused on his creative process. The remarks came as he promoted his latest epic, "The Odyssey," which features a star‑studded cast and follows the Greek hero’s adventures. Nolan’s films, ranging from "Interstellar" to "Oppenheimer," have collectively grossed billions and earned multiple Academy Awards, cementing his reputation as one of the most successful directors of the 21st century.
