Christopher Nolan warns AI as a transparent Trojan horse
Film director Christopher Nolan likened artificial intelligence to a “transparent Trojan horse made of glass,” saying the technology’s rapid development is matched by a broad public rejection, especially among younger people who label low‑quality AI output as “AI slop.”
Nolan emphasized that skepticism should be directed not only at the technology itself but also at the motives of the companies that provide it. As chair of the Directors Guild of America, he helped secure contractual protections for members against the use of generative AI.
His comments coincided with the release of his new film The Odyssey, which was shot entirely with IMAX cameras on a reported budget of about $250 million and has earned more than $639 million worldwide.
