Christopher Nolan's $250M 'Odisseia' Film with Matt Damon Begins Global Shoot
Director Christopher Nolan is filming his $250 million adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey, titled Odisseia, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus. The production, described by Damon as feeling like “six or seven movies at once,” was shot over 91 days in diverse locations including Morocco, Greece, Italy, Iceland and Scotland, using natural settings turned into IMAX studios.
The epic is scheduled to open in cinemas on 16 July and is billed as the first blockbuster shot entirely in IMAX. Its ensemble cast adds Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Jon Bernthal, Mia Goth and John Leguizamo, among others. Damon noted the scale of the shoot and suggested such large‑budget productions may become rare in Hollywood.
The film follows Odysseus’s ten‑year journey home after the Trojan War, promising a modern, high‑tech retelling of the classic myth.
