Christopher Nolan's 'A Odisseia' leads 2027 Oscar predictions
Predictions for the 2027 Academy Awards indicate that Christopher Nolan's "A Odisseia" (The Odyssey) is the heavy favorite for Best Picture, with probability estimates as high as 97-99.9%. Nolan is also a leading contender for Best Director.
Netflix is positioning the Spanish film "La Bola Negra," directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi (Los Javis), as a major challenger. The film, which received a 20-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival and won Best Director alongside Paweł Pawlikowski, follows three men through different eras of Spanish history, from 1932 to 2017. Following its success at Cannes, Netflix won the bidding war for U.S. distribution rights.
Other notable contenders in the Best Picture race include "Wild Horse Nine," "Project Hail Mary," and "Star Eaters." In the acting categories, Tom Cruise is a frontrunner for Best Actor for his role in "Digger," while Julianne Moore leads the projections for Best Actress for "A Grande Estreia."
