Christopher Nolan's epic 'La Odisea' filmed across five countries

Director Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic "La Odisea" (also released as "A Odisseia") was shot on location in Morocco, Greece, Italy, Iceland and Scotland. The production, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus with an ensemble cast that includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o and Charlize Theron, used IMIMAX 70 mm cameras and a $250 million budget. Actors described the demanding logistics, such as 45‑minute uphill walks in full costume to reach sets and the transformation of natural sites like Greece’s Cave of Nestor into sound stages.

The film, described by Nolan as the biggest of his career, wrapped after 91 intensive days of shooting and will debut in cinemas mid‑July (July 16 in Brazil, July 17 elsewhere). Cast members praised the authenticity of filming on real seas, castles and mountains, noting that the practical locations add a deeper layer to the storytelling.
