The release of Christopher Nolan’s film “Odyssey” has revived public fascination with Homer’s ancient saga, prompting renewed focus on the historic city of Troy in Turkey. Archaeologists at the UNESCO‑listed Troia archaeological site say the movie has sparked heightened debate and visitor interest in the ongoing excavations.

Professor Dr. Rüstem Aslan, head of the Troy excavation project, explained that teams are extending digs in the Hellenistic‑Roman Agora area to locate layers linked to the legendary Trojan War. The work aims to determine how and when the city was destroyed, seeking physical evidence of the conflict described by Homer. The film’s popularity is expected to draw more tourists and support for the “Future Heritage” project that continues the 2026 season of archaeological research.
