Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' premiere bans influencers

Oscar‑winning director Christopher Nolan is preparing his most ambitious project, the film "The Odyssey", an adaptation of Homer's epic. The cast includes Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Lupita Nyong’o, Travis Scott and Elliot Page. Release dates are set for Portugal on 16 July and Spain on 17 July, with a London pre‑screening on 6 July.

In a separate interview Nolan disclosed he was obsessed with "Star Wars" as a child, saying he saw the first film twelve times in theaters. He also announced that no influencers will be invited to the London pre‑screening; only accredited journalists and specialized critics will attend. The decision has reignited debate over the role of digital creators in film promotion, recalling a prior controversy at Spain’s Goya Awards when influencers were seated alongside industry professionals.

The move underscores Nolan’s preference for traditional critical reception over social‑media marketing and has drawn mixed reactions from the cinema community.
