Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' sets $250 million budget for 2026 release

Director Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic "The Odyssey" is slated to open in theatres on July 17, 2026, with premium IMAX and 70 mm screenings. The production has a reported budget of $250 million, setting the break‑even target at just over $500 million worldwide.

The film features an star‑studded cast: Matt Damon plays Odysseus, Tom Holland appears as his son Telemachus, Anne Hathaway portrays Penelope, Robert Pattinson is Antinous, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron join as Athena, Calypso and other roles. Its runtime is 2 hours 52 minutes, making it one of Nolan's longest movies. Actor Matt Damon has highlighted the timing of the release, saying younger audiences are returning to cinemas and that the film arrives at a “really good time” for theatrical revival.

The ambitious scale and high‑cost investment have drawn attention from analysts, who note the film could become the most expensive Nolan project to date and a key driver for the summer blockbuster season.
