Christopher Smith Jr. found dead in Belize City shooting

Christopher Smith Jr., a 23-year-old man, was found dead from gunshot wounds on Arlington Drive in Belize City. Police discovered his body around 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, exhibiting injuries to the left side of his head and left shoulder. Investigators recovered four expended nine-millimeter shell casings at the scene.

Residents reported hearing gunfire shortly after 1:00 a.m., suggesting the shooting occurred several hours before the body was located. The Belize Police Department is currently reviewing footage from the crime fusion center to identify suspects.

Smith had previously been involved in a high-profile criminal case. In 2024, he was charged alongside two other men in connection with the murders of Marvin Cante and Juan Raymundo, whose bodies were discovered in a shallow grave near Hattieville. However, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions directed that the charges against Smith be withdrawn in November 2025.
