Christopher Street Day parades draw thousands in Frankfurt and Bocholt

Germany's annual Christopher Street Day celebrations are underway in two regions. In Frankfurt, organizers expect more than 10,000 participants in the main parade, which begins with a rally at the Römer and proceeds along a route that includes Korn- and Rossmarkt, Neue Mainzer Straße and Konrad‑Adenauer‑Straße, ending near the Main around 16:30. The city forecasts around 150,000 visitors over four days of events, with a rainbow flag hoisted at the opening ceremony. Police warned of possible traffic disruptions due to a concurrent pro‑Palestine demonstration.

In the North‑Rhine‑Westphalian town of Bocholt, the second Christopher Street Day will be held on Saturday, 22 August. The programme features a parade, a street festival, an after‑show party and new activities, building on the first CSD in 2025 which attracted about 900 attendees. Local volunteers are seeking support to expand the event.

Both parades emphasize diversity, equality and the right to demonstrate, aiming to celebrate LGBTQ+ culture and demand full legal recognition and societal acceptance.
