Christos Frantzeskakis qualifies for hammer throw final in Birmingham

At the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, Greek hammer thrower Christos Frantzeskakis has qualified for the final. He secured the 12th and final qualifying spot with a best throw of 75.22 meters.

Cyprus's Iosif Kesidis also advanced to the final, finishing in 11th place with a throw of 75.48 meters. Other Greek hammer throwers, Michalis Anastasakis and Giorgos PapAnastasiou, did not advance, finishing 18th and 30th respectively.

In the men's shot put, Greek athletes failed to reach the final. Konstantinos Gennikis finished 14th with a best throw of 19.37 meters, missing the final by 17 centimeters. Odysseas Mouzenidis finished 25th with a best throw of 18.35 meters, while Asonas Machairas was unable to complete his attempt due to back discomfort.
