Christos Kellas, Greece’s Deputy Rural Development Minister, speaks at Omolio agri‑festival and property rights meeting

Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food Christos Kellas attended the Corn and Kiwi Festival in Omolio, Thessaly. He praised the event for showcasing the region’s agricultural wealth, highlighted the challenges posed by the climate crisis, rising production costs and low prices, and cited support measures such as the inclusion of arable crops in Measure 23 and the creation of a new “krevadina” category for kiwi that increased advance compensation for growers.

Kellas also took part in an extraordinary general assembly of the Alexandrinia Beach Owners Association, where he outlined recent legal steps to resolve a decades‑long ownership dispute. He referred to Law 2386/1996, which recognized property titles extending to the sea, and to the newly issued Law 5092/2024 that obliges the state to withdraw from lands where pre‑existing titles prevail. He pledged continued monitoring until a final settlement is reached for the local residents.
