Christos Triantopoulos denies allegations regarding Tempi victims

Christos Triantopoulos, a former deputy minister and Magnesia MP, has issued a categorical denial against allegations made by Maria Karystianou, president of the Elpida gia ti Dimokratia party. During a televised interview, Karystianou claimed that Triantopoulos had used the phrase ‘meat for transport’ to describe the victims' remains at the Tempi train crash site, allegedly to facilitate the rapid clearing of the area to make it a ‘lampiko’ (a site for festivities).

Triantopoulos characterized these claims as a ‘vulgar lie’ and expressed shock at the accusations. He emphasized that while he respects the profound pain of the victims' families, he has a duty to protect his own family from what he described as ‘slander, filth, and toxicity.’ He noted that the remarks were made by Karystianou in her capacity as a political leader rather than as a grieving mother, which he believes adds significant institutional weight to the controversy.

The former minister stated that he will not follow a ‘slippery path’ of mudslinging and instead intends to let the truth emerge through the Supreme Special Court, which he has requested to oversee the matter.
