Christy Carlson Romano injured in Texas shotgun accident

Former Disney star Christy Carlson Romano revealed that a February 2025 clay pigeon shooting accident in Texas left her at risk of blindness. During an outing to celebrate her husband Brendan Rooney’s birthday, Romano was struck by birdshot after a member of the party reportedly fired too closely in her direction.

Romano stated that a pellet remains lodged behind her eye, approximately one millimeter away from critical tissue. While doctors determined that attempting to remove the pellet would pose a greater risk to her vision, she noted that if the shot were to move, she could go blind.

In her memoir, ‘Once Upon a Trainwreck’, Romano described the immediate aftermath of the incident, noting that she feared for her life and experienced blurring vision as blood spread across her contact lenses. She attributed the incident to an individual in her party who failed to be responsible with their firearm.
