Christy Knowings, former ‘All That’ star, dies at 46

Actress and comedian Christy Knowings, best known for her role on Nickelodeon’s sketch comedy series ‘All That’, has died at the age of 46. Her death was confirmed following a severe asthma attack on August 7 that resulted in brain damage.

Knowings was hospitalized in the Los Angeles area and placed on life support. Her family made the decision to remove her from life support on Tuesday, August 11, after medical professionals determined there was no possibility of recovery. Her aunt, Tyleah Joseph, confirmed the news via Facebook.

Knowings appeared in 32 episodes of ‘All That’ between 1997 and 2000, performing alongside future stars such as Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Amanda Bynes, and Nick Cannon. She was recognized for characters like Penny Lane and Jessica in the ‘Whateverrr!!!’ sketch. Beyond Nickelodeon, she appeared on ‘Sesame Street’ with her twin brother, Chris Knowings, and released a folk single, ‘To the World’, in 2020.

Former co-star Kenan Thompson paid tribute to her on social media, describing her as “one of the funniest people out here” and a “real one.” Other colleagues and fans have expressed grief over the loss of the multi-talented performer.
