CHRO confidence edges down as AI reshapes workforce planning
Recent data indicates that while confidence among US Chief Human Resource Officers (CHROs) remains positive, it has seen a slight decline. According to The Conference Board, the CHRO Confidence Index fell to 56 in Q3 from 58 in Q2. While hiring expectations rose slightly, components related to retention and engagement decreased.
Artificial intelligence is significantly impacting workforce planning, with 82% of CHROs reporting that their organizations have changed processes due to AI. However, many organizations feel unprepared for the transition; only 4% of CHROs describe their organizations as ‘very prepared’ to manage AI-driven changes over the next two years. Primary obstacles include difficulty predicting AI's impact, limited AI skills, and unclear strategies.
In a separate survey of over 500 HR, finance, and IT leaders conducted by Paylocity, 88% of technology decision-makers expressed belief that AI can help teams focus on higher-value work. Despite this optimism, leaders are seeking practical solutions for specific pain points, such as AI that can proactively flag payroll irregularities to prevent errors and maintain employee trust.
