Chronic pain and inflammatory conditions like endometriosis represent significant public health challenges. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 30% of the global population lives with chronic pain, a condition that persists for more than three months and can impair sleep, mental health, and daily functional capacity.

Endometriosis is a specific inflammatory disease where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, such as in the bladder or diaphragm. This tissue responds to hormonal cycles by bleeding, which can cause severe pain and respiratory issues if located near the diaphragm. Despite being scientifically described in the 19th century, many patients still face significant delays in diagnosis and adequate medical support.

Medical specialists note that while acute pain serves as a protective warning signal, chronic pain can alter the nervous system, making it hypersensitive. This can lead to persistent pain even after the initial injury or disease has been treated.
