Chrononutrition studies link dinner and breakfast timing to metabolic health

Recent chrononutrition research shows that the timing of dinner relative to sleep can dramatically affect metabolism. A three‑hour window before bedtime improves digestion, hormonal balance, reduces insulin spikes, supports growth‑hormone and melatonin release, and lessens nighttime reflux. Eating within three hours of a planned bedtime (for example, at 20:00 for a 23:00 sleep time) was linked to lower morning blood‑sugar and higher fat oxidation; a study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism reported that late‑night diners burned about 10 % less fat than those who ate earlier.

Separate research on breakfast found that a protein‑ and fiber‑rich meal, especially eggs combined with vegetables, promotes satiety and steadies appetite throughout the day. An International Journal of Obesity study showed participants who ate eggs for breakfast felt fuller and consumed fewer calories later, supporting a higher metabolic rate. Together, these findings suggest aligning main meals with the body's circadian rhythm to improve weight management and sleep quality.
