Chronovisor film trailer released ahead of US theatrical debut
Grasshopper Films has released the official trailer for Chronovisor, a microbudget indie mystery thriller marking the feature directorial debut of Jack Auen and Kevin Walker. The film, which previously premiered at the 2026 Rotterdam Film Festival, follows Béatrice, a respected academic played by Anne-Laure Sellier. While researching historical theories of memory, she becomes obsessed with the legend of the Chronovisor, an occult device rumored to be able to reproduce visuals from any point in history on a television screen.
The narrative tracks Béatrice from her Upper East Side apartment through the hidden libraries of New York City as she pursues a breakthrough. The film is noted for its experimental style, blending literature and cinema by incorporating close-ups of books and articles, sometimes using English translations overlaid directly on the original text rather than traditional subtitles.
Chronovisor is scheduled to open at Film at Lincoln Center on September 4, followed by a wider theatrical release in select US theaters.
