Chrysalis film set for Vietnam release following production changes

The film formerly known as ‘Chrysalis’ (Chiếc kén) has been scheduled for release in Vietnam on September 11. Following the legal issues and detention of actress and producer Trương Ngọc Ánh in late 2025, the production has undergone significant changes.

Promotional materials and posters no longer feature Trương Ngọc Ánh. To maintain the narrative continuity while removing her presence, the production team utilized a combination of AI, CGI, and ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) to modify both visual and audio elements. Producer Daniel K. Winn stated that these technical interventions cost approximately 10% of the original production budget. The film, directed by J. Robert Schulz, features a cast including Kiều Chinh, Daniel K. Winn, and Nguyễn Vũ Uy Nhân.
