Chrystian, of the duo Chrystian & Ralf, dies at 67

Brazilian sertanejo singer Chrystian passed away at age 67 due to septic shock resulting from pneumonia and complications from polycystic kidney disease. He was widely recognized for his successful musical partnership with his brother, Ralf, forming the duo Chrystian & Ralf.

The duo, which rose to prominence in the 1980s, released 20 albums and achieved numerous certifications, including Diamond and Platinum records. Their hits, such as ‘Cheiro de Shampoo’ and ‘Nova York’, became staples of the genre. Although the brothers separated in 2000 to pursue solo careers, they had briefly reunited in 2007.

Following the loss, Ralf addressed social media suggestions that he form a new duo with singer Renner. Ralf dismissed these ideas as a ‘lack of common sense’ and disrespectful to the memory of the late Rick Sollo, stating that Chrystian was ‘irreplaceable’ and that he intends to continue his solo career.
