Versailles hosts exhibition for 20th anniversary of Sofia Coppola’s ‘Marie Antoinette’
Director Sofia Coppola and the Château de Versailles have partnered to host a commemorative exhibition marking the 20th anniversary of the 2006 film ‘Marie Antoinette’. The exhibition, supported by Cartier, features props, costumes, and behind-the-scenes materials staged at the Petit Trianon and will run until January 24.
The launch event at the Versailles Orangerie reunited lead actors Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman, alongside filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and various cultural figures. The celebration highlights the film’s enduring legacy and its unique production history.
In conjunction with the exhibition, Coppola is completing ‘Making Marie Antoinette’, a documentary composed of 80 hours of on-set footage captured by her late mother, Eleanor Coppola. The documentary, which serves as a tribute to Eleanor, is scheduled for release by Mubi on November 9.
