Château des Monts watchmaking museum burglarized in Le Locle

Four masked and gloved individuals burglarized the Château des Monts watchmaking museum in Le Locle on the morning of Sunday, August 9. The perpetrators broke into the north entrance and two exhibition rooms, shattering glass cases to steal fewer than ten heritage-value clocks. The suspects fled the scene in a dark sedan, and police reports indicate their trail was lost heading toward France.

The Neuchâtel Police, forensic services, and the public prosecutor have launched an investigation. Authorities are coordinating with the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (OFDF) and French police to assist in the search. This incident marks the third burglary at the museum in the last twenty years.

The museum is scheduled to reopen to the public on Wednesday, August 12, following necessary repairs to the premises.
