Châteauneuf-sur-Charente emergency services respond to fire and death
Emergency services in Châteauneuf-sur-Charente responded to two separate incidents on a Wednesday evening.
First, a fire broke out in an 80-square-meter garage attached to a residence. The 59-year-old homeowner sustained minor hand burns while attempting to move vehicles from the structure before being transported to a hospital in Angoulême. Firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to the main house, though part of the garage roof was destroyed.
Later that evening, authorities responded to a welfare check at a residence on Place Basse. Upon entering the apartment with the assistance of gendarmes, responders discovered the body of a 52-year-old man. The death is believed to be due to natural causes.
