Chuburná residents file environmental complaint in Mexico
Residents of Chuburná Puerto have filed a formal complaint with the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) regarding alleged damage to coastal dune ecosystems and natural resources in Yucatán, Mexico.
The community action is supported by the group ‘Salvemos las Dunas’ and legal counsel from the Mexican Center for Environmental Law (CEMDA). The complainants are demanding a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities and the application of sanctions against those responsible for the environmental impact.
The group also highlighted broader threats to the region, including the impact of pig farms, stone mining in various localities, and real estate speculation affecting both coastal and jungle areas.
