Chubut implements new strategies to boost tourism and investment

The government of Chubut, Argentina, is implementing several strategic initiatives to reorganize and expand its tourism sector. Minister of Tourism Diego Lapenna stated that the administration is focused on maintaining successful programs while modifying ineffective ones, including transitioning to electronic payments at the 'El Desempeño' peninsula access point.

To drive economic growth, the province is hosting training workshops in Esquel and Trelew to help local officials and private actors identify and secure tourism investments. Additionally, Chubut participated in the 40th Los Lagos Binational Integration Committee meeting in Valdivia, Chile, to strengthen ties and promote binational tourism, particularly through the Puelo Pass. The province is also set to host the next committee meeting in 2027.

Local development projects include a five-month plan in Río Mayo to develop geotourism circuits through scientific cooperation with the Esquel Geology Research Group. Furthermore, the province is actively promoting the Chubut Cordillera to the Córdoba market through media and influencer press trips to highlight regional gastronomy, wineries, and natural attractions.
