Chubut declares two days of mourning for Malvinas veteran Elfin Omar Awstin

The Chubut provincial government has decreed two days of official mourning following the death of Elfin Omar Awstin, a veteran of the Malvinas War. The measure, formalized through Decree 1653 signed by Governor Ignacio Torres, honors Awstin’s participation in the conflict regarding Argentine sovereignty over the Malvinas, South Georgia, and South Sandwich Islands.

During the mourning period, national and provincial flags must be flown at half-mast in all public buildings and spaces throughout the Chubut territory, including the Casa del Chubut in Buenos Aires. Additionally, official digital portals and media outlets are directed to display the message, ‘El Pueblo Chubutense en Gratitud a los Héroes de Malvinas’ (The People of Chubut in Gratitude to the Heroes of Malvinas).
