Chubut expands International Signal of Help to public transport

The Chubut provincial government is expanding the dissemination of the International Signal of Help by integrating it into the public passenger transport system. Through the Ministry of Government and the Undersecretariat of Land Road Transport, transport companies operating under provincial jurisdiction are required to display official signage providing information on the signal and basic response protocols.

Transport companies, including Expreso Rada Tilly, have until September 30 to implement this signage. The initiative aims to use public transit as a space for prevention and awareness, ensuring citizens can recognize the silent hand signal used to discreetly communicate a need for help in situations of risk or violence.

Jennifer Contardi, Undersecretary of Land Road Transport, noted that because hundreds of residents use these buses daily, they serve as an effective platform to inform and generate awareness regarding this vital safety tool.
