Chubut government launches new addiction prevention initiatives
The Chubut government is strengthening its policies regarding problematic substance consumption through new institutional agreements and educational initiatives. The administration has signed a convenio with La Casa de la Cultura de la Calle, an organization founded by Gastón Pauls, to promote a community-based approach to addiction prevention and mental health.
Governor Ignacio Torres emphasized that these efforts are intended to be long-term policies rather than temporary programs. Planned actions include integrating preventive content into school curricula, utilizing cultural events for communication, and training government teams in prevention and care through the coordination of health, education, security, culture, and sports sectors.
As part of this initiative, the Chubut Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the National Secretariat of Education, will host a sensitization meeting on September 8 via the Webex platform. This session is specifically designed for School Trajectory Orientation and Support Teams to provide tools for preventive approaches and to build institutional care networks within educational communities.
