Chubut government strengthens fisheries oversight and food distribution

The Chubut provincial government has launched several initiatives to manage and distribute local fishing resources. In Comandante Luis Piedra Buena, the Ministry of Production, Commerce and Industry signed a cooperation agreement with the local municipality to strengthen sustainable sport fishing. This includes the delivery of a 6.70-meter semi-rigid vessel equipped with a 115 HP motor to assist in fishing inspection, nautical controls, environmental monitoring, and emergency assistance.

Additionally, through the ‘From the Sea to the Table’ program, the province is distributing hake to various social, educational, and health institutions. Beneficiaries in the first stage include the Rawson Hospital, various care homes, and local schools. The program, coordinated by the Ministries of Education and Human Development alongside the Secretariat of Fisheries, aims to provide high-quality nutritional food to vulnerable sectors and includes food safety workshops for kitchen staff to ensure proper handling and preparation of fish.
