Chubut Governor requests transfer of inmate Menocchio

Chubut Governor Ignacio Torres has requested the immediate transfer of Luis Raúl Menocchio from the Rawson Unit 6 federal prison to another facility. Menocchio, who is serving two life sentences for homicide, was found to be managing a drug trafficking network from within the prison.

A year-long investigation by the Chubut Police, involving over 40 raids, revealed that Menocchio used unregistered mobile phones to direct criminal activities. The organization utilized courier companies to transport drugs to Trelew and Rawson, while family members helped manage the proceeds. The network also employed individuals to guard locations and monitor police presence.
