Chubut Governor Torres reshuffles fisheries leadership
Chubut Governor Ignacio Torres has announced a restructuring of the province's fisheries management, involving new appointments for the provincial Fisheries Secretariat and its representation in the Federal Fisheries Council (CFP).
Gabriel Aguilar, a lawyer from Puerto Madryn with previous experience as Fisheries Secretary under the Arcioni administration, will replace Andrés Arbeletche at the federal level. Sebastián Cejas, who has served as the general director since February 2022, will take over the provincial Fisheries Secretariat in Rawson, succeeding Diego Brandán.
These leadership changes occur during a critical period for the industry, particularly regarding shrimp, which is a primary export product. The new officials face the challenge of negotiating the potential implementation of a quota system for fisheries and managing interests across key ports, including Puerto Madryn, Comodoro Rivadavia, and Rawson.
