Argentina expands electronic payment systems in tolls and protected areas

Various sectors in Argentina are transitioning toward electronic payment systems. In Chubut, the Ministry of Tourism and Protected Areas is implementing digital ticketing and electronic payments for natural protected areas, including Punta Loma and Península Valdés. This includes a pilot telepass system for authorized personnel and residents of Puerto Pirámides to streamline access.

On National Route 8, the concessionaire VIAL 8 is phasing out cash at toll stations in Larena, Solís, Venado Tuerto, and Sampacho. Drivers without TelePASE must use manual electronic methods, which incur a fee 200% higher than the automatic system. Similarly, Corresur has activated self-service totems in its corridor to eliminate cash, offering discounts for TelePASE users.

In the aviation sector, Aeropuertos Argentina has announced changes to airport parking payments. Starting September 2, manual toll booths will only accept cash, while credit and debit card payments must be processed through self-service terminals or ADA systems.

Additionally, Chubut is conducting a survey of audiovisual locations in the Meseta and Cordillera regions to register potential filming sites for the Argentina Film Commission. In environmental efforts, over 100,000 native trees are being planted to restore areas in Chubut affected by previous forest fires.
