Cristina Kirchner faces asset embargo and pension restoration

Argentine judicial authorities have ordered the embargo of several assets belonging to former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, including the apartment in Buenos Aires where she is currently serving house arrest. This measure, issued by the Federal Oral Court No. 2 in the context of the Vialidad case, aims to recover damages estimated at 685 billion pesos. The embargo covers various properties, lands, and commercial assets in Buenos Aires and Santa Cruz, preventing their sale or transfer during ongoing legal proceedings.

Separately, the National Social Security Administration (ANSES) has provisionally restored a life pension to Fernández de Kirchner following a precautionary measure issued by the Federal Social Security Chamber. The payment, totaling a gross amount of approximately 16.09 million pesos, corresponds to the benefit derived from former President Néstor Kirchner. This restoration is temporary while the main legal dispute regarding her criminal conviction and subsequent suspension of benefits continues to be litigated.
