Chubut leads Argentina in fishing landings for 2026

Chubut has reached a historic milestone in the Argentine fishing industry, becoming the province with the highest volume of maritime landings so far this year. Between January 1 and September 1, 2026, Chubut's docks recorded 257,568 tons out of a national total of 642,955 tons.

This performance displaces Buenos Aires, which traditionally led the sector through the port of Mar del Plata, recording 254,498 tons. The surge in Chubut is primarily attributed to an extraordinary shrimp harvest, supported by constant activity from coastal and artisanal fleets in Rawson, Puerto Madryn, and Comodoro Rivadavia.

Other provinces recorded significant but lower volumes, including Santa Cruz with 109,890 tons and Tierra del Fuego with 17,685 tons. In Comodoro Rivadavia and Puerto Madryn, landings of Hubbsi hake reached 15,554 and 14,049 tons, respectively, reinforcing the strategic importance of the region's marine resources.
