Chubut legislator warns debt refinancing program fails to solve over-indebtedness

Legislator Vanesa Abril has warned that a new debt refinancing program in Chubut does not address the underlying issue of over-indebtedness. While the initiative serves as a support tool for those facing financial difficulties, Abril noted that it is not a solution for the systemic debt affecting approximately 85,000 people in the province who are currently in arrears.

Abril highlighted that many individuals are taking out new loans to settle existing commitments. She also expressed concerns regarding a provision that would allow the Executive Branch to terminate the program via decree once it deems its purpose fulfilled, arguing that a program established by law should not be subject to unilateral executive decisions. She intends to propose amendments to remove these specific clauses.
