Chubut Province advances plan to strengthen child and adolescent care homes

Minister Florencia Papaiani of the provincial Ministry of Human Development visited Trelew’s three state‑run care facilities – the Hogar de Adolescentes Varones, Hogar de Adolescentes Mujeres and Hogar de Niños – as part of Chubut’s integrated strategy to enhance protection for children and adolescents.

The strengthening plan calls for continuous staff training, reorganisation of work teams, installation of video‑surveillance systems, increased operating budgets, formation of interdisciplinary technical teams and the creation of unified institutional protocols. Around 26 children and adolescents are currently housed in the Trelew homes, with ages 0‑12 in the children’s home and 12‑18 in the adolescent homes. Governor Ignacio “Nacho” Torres is highlighted as supporting the initiative.
